Kelsey Grammer might end up on the ballot in the near future.

The "Cheers" star, 71, admitted that he has "wrestled" with the idea of running for political office in an Us Weekly interview published June 24.

"I would consider it. It would possibly tick that box for me, in terms of the service I feel I should have given to my fellow man – to my fellow countrymen – that I missed in the military," Grammer said. "Maybe [running for office] would be the way to do it."

However, the host of the new Fox Nation series "The Patriot War" acknowledged that he wants to be present for his eight children.

Kelsey Grammer said in a recent interview that he believes running for political office would be a way to serve "my fellow countrymen."

"I have a young family. I don't want to be an absentee dad, so I put it on hold a little bit, but I do intend to live for quite a while," Grammer said. "I'm vital and prepared to stay that way for quite a while, and yes, it's likely I will at least throw my hat in the ring in some way."

Grammer shares four children with wife Kayte Walsh: Faith, 13; Gabriel, 11; James, 9; and Christopher, 8 months. He also has four adult children from previous relationships: Spencer Grammer, 42; Greer Grammer, 34; Mason Grammer, 24; and Jude Grammer, 21.

Kelsey Grammer has 'lost some friends' as a longtime Republican

Grammer, a longtime Republican, has aligned himself closely with President Donald Trump during his second administration. The "Frasier" actor appeared at the Kennedy Center Honors in December and lauded Trump as "one of the greatest presidents we've ever had" ahead of the celebration.

In May, Grammer moderated a discussion with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about Trump Accounts, which set up newborns with investment accounts, in Southern California.

Grammer, who previously claimed that being a registered Republican is the "worst thing you can be" in the entertainment industry, said in a February podcast appearance that "I've lost some friends through the last few years, but I've gained others." He added he believes it's "not popular" for people with different political values to find middle ground.

"I'm a little more outspoken about it," Grammer said of his political leanings on the Megyn Kelly Show in February. "We live in America. We're all Americans; we need to remember that. My fellow American is not my enemy. No, that goes back to my Christian lens that I put on things, which is love thy enemy as thyself, [and] do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

He continued, "These are things that are still important to me, so that's why I think I probably outed myself a long time ago. In retrospect … it did relegate me to the fringes of society in Hollywood."
