The woman who claimed to be the secret daughter of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has died aged 48.
The woman, initially known only as âBâ, was the subject of a 2025 book titled Love, Freddie, in which she told author and journalist Lesley-Ann Jones that she was conceived during an affair the rock singer had with a friendâs wife.
Her husband, Thomas, told the Daily Mail in a statement that she died âpeacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and sevenâ.
âB is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts,â he said. âHer ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps,â Thomas said.
Her name was also revealed as âBibiâ, while Jones claimed that Mercury also called her his âtrĂ©sorâ â French for treasure â and his âlittle froggieâ. She alleged that the Queen songs âBijouâ and âDonât Try So Hardâ were written about Bibi.
Jones said: âI am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie's story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth.â
Freddie Mercury was alleged to have fathered a âsecret childâ during an affair in 1974 (PA)
When Jones first announced her book, the claim that Mercury had fathered a secret child was met with heavy scepticism from a number of those closest to him.
Speaking to The Sunday Times last year, Mercuryâs closest friend Mary Austin, to whom he left much of his estate, said at no point did he tell her he had fathered a daughter, nor did she see him write a diary, in which âBâ claimed he detailed their âvery close and lovingâ relationship until his death in 1991.
The first entry said to have been written was on 20 June 1976, while Austin was still living with the âBohemian Rhapsodyâ star. The book claimed that only his inner circle, including his bandmates and Austin, were said to know of the childâs existence for almost five decades.
âFreddie had a glorious openness, and I cannot imagine he would have wanted to, or been able to, keep such a joyful event a secret, either from me or other people closest to him,â Austin said.
She continued: âThe truth is that I am simply not the guardian of such a secret. Iâve never known of any child, or of any diaries. If Freddie had indeed had a child without me knowing anything about it, that would be astonishing to me.â

If Mercury had had a daughter, she added, âit would have brought tremendous joy to Freddie, and everybody who cared about him â including Freddieâs parents. I believe that [Bomi and Jer Bulsara] would have embraced her with all the love in their hearts. But I do not remember Freddie ever speaking about creating a family.â
Meanwhile, Anita Dobson shared the reaction of her husband, Mercuryâs Queen bandmate Brian May, after Bâs claims were made public.
She told The Mirror: âI went âWhat?â I thought, âNo,â And I said to Brian, âDo you know about this?â And he said: âDo you believe this?ââ
She continued: âThere must be lots of people who have children that we donât know about. Itâs just because itâs him. Because heâs iconic. And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we donât know about.â
Dobson suggested it might be âfake newsâ, stating: âIf he does have one, where is she â step forward.â
B told the Mail that she was âdevastatedâ by Austinâs response: âFor 34 years, the truth of Freddie's life has been distorted, twisted and rewritten, but she said nothing â with the exception of her comment about the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, which she called âartistic licenceâ.
âHere, she has not yet read the book, yet she apparently makes this statement. I donât understand why.â
