- Will Arnett refused to answer a question involving his ex-wife Amy Poehler's bathroom habits.
- "Did you ever poo in front of Amy?" Jason Bateman asked on their *Smartless* podcast.
- The former couple wed in 2003 and their divorce was finalized in 2016.
Will Arnett is gobsmacked by what his cohost wanted to know about Amy Poehler.
The *Arrested Development* actor clammed up when *Smartless** *cohost Jason Bateman brought up Arnett's ex-wife and their bathroom habits. The former couple wed in 2003 and their divorce was finalized in 2016.
Arnett, Bateman, and their cohost Sean Hayes kicked off their June 22 episode with their typical banter and got into the topic of "potty talk," apropos of nothing. "Sean and I love our power burps... I've definitely farted in front of you, Sean," Bateman said.
Hayes confirmed that Bateman had "definitely farted on" him.
"But Willie doesn't. He doesn't," Bateman continued. "So then, Will... Did you ever poo in front of Amy?"

"Are you looking for clicks?" Arnett asked. "Are you trying to get something that we can click around?"
The *Ozark** *actor kept pushing for an answer. "Wait, but hang on. You were married to her, had two kids. You guys never went to the bathroom in front of each other?"
Arnett remained baffled. "I'm sorry. The question is, did I poo in front of Amy? And you're saying that I don't have manners. What are you talking about?" Arnett said. "It's not a good question. I refuse to answer it."

Arnett and Poehler started dating in 2000 and got married three years later. Poehler told *PEOPLE* about their seemingly silly relationship dynamics back in 2005, which included "contests" to see who can contort their faces into the funniest expressions.
"We both have no problem looking like idiots to each other or other people," the *Parks & Recreation** *star said. "We will stand in the bathroom in front of our double sinks and have contests to see who can make the queerest, most disgusting face. It gets serious. Like, 'Good job. How about this?'"
She added that Arnett was always looking for new ways to make her laugh. "One July 4th, Will came out in a stars-and-stripes apron with nothing underneath," she admitted. "He makes me feel very safe. You can have a lot of adventures if you have someone by your side."

They welcomed sons Archie and Abel in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Two years later, they announced their separation. In 2014, Poehler filed for divorce from Arnett. It was finalized in 2016.
In her 2014 memoir, *Yes Please*, Poehler didn't want to harp on their divorce, writing that it was "too sad and too personal." She did praise her ex-husband, however. "I am proud of how my ex-husband, Will, and I have been taking care of our children; I am beyond grateful he is their father; and I don't think a [nearly] ten-year marriage constitutes failure," she wrote. "That being said, getting a divorce really sucks."
The feeling appears to be mutual. During an April 2025 episode of *Smartless** *where Poehler appeared as a guest, Arnett gushed about their relationship post-divorce.

“I’m really, really lucky to have her as a partner in this way. There aren’t many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird — you know what I mean? But it’s great,” Arnett said. "She is somebody that I still run a lot of stuff by."
"She’s the person I go to, like, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about doing this.’ Whether it’s life or work, I really seek her counsel because it’s important to me — because I trust her. She’s awesome," added Arnett.
