Tom Holland's nickname for Zendaya has an adorable origin.

While on the red carpet for the Rome premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the actor called his wife "Maree," which is her middle name.

Holland confirmed that they got married in an interview with Esquire UK published in June.

Tom Holland has an unexpected nickname for Zendaya, and its origin is sweet.

During the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere in Rome on Tuesday, Holland let the name he calls his new wife slip — and it's not Z.

In a video shared by PEOPLE on Instagram, Holland called out to the Euphoriastar, whose full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, on the red carpet to ask her something while she was speaking to an outlet.

"Maree!" he shouted, inquiring about the location where they were headed after the evening's events. "Giolitti's!" Zendaya shouted back. "That's where I'm going after this," she elaborated to the reporter.

Holland and Zendaya met in 2016 while working on Spider-Man: Homecoming, where they began their turns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Michelle "M.J." Jones, respectively, in the beloved franchise. They made their relationship public in 2021 and got engaged in late 2024.

Holland confirmed that he and Zendaya secretly got married in a June Esquire UKarticle after months of speculation.

When he was asked if he worried about fake photos from their wedding that circulated online leading to loved ones feeling left out, he said "No, because they were all there... That's all you'll get on that," he added.

He also gushed about having Zendaya as a support system while navigating the entertainment industry. "Our business can present very stressful situations and it's really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time," Holland said.

"We can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it's like to live this life, and I think that is such a luxury, because I just don't understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else."

The actor added, "So, for me, I found my person. She's my best friend, and I'm the happiest I have ever been when I'm with her, but I have also never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period."

Along with the upcoming Spider-Man film, Holland and Zendaya star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, premiering on July 17.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres on July 31.
