Sally Jesse Raphael may change up her hair color, but those iconic red glasses always stay the same.

The legendary talk show host, 91, who is known for her memorable daytime talk show Sally, had a lengthy career in journalism before she even stepped foot on her own chat show set. While Sally concluded in 2002, Raphael is savoring her retirement years in style. Gone are the days of the blond updos she frequently sported on TV. Instead, she now has bright red hair, which she frequently shows off on social media.

Raphael, who celebrated her 91st birthday on Wednesday, took to social media this week to thank fans and followers for their positive wishes in honor of her birthday. Pictured enjoying a delicious dessert alongside some French macarons, the chat show queen sported her classic red glasses as she expressed her gratitude.

"Thank you soooo much for the tremendous outpouring of birthday love from all of you yesterday! It means so much to me. I had a wonderful day with family & friends. Here I am, enjoying a fabulous dessert at lunch… and there was a meal somewhere in there too," she shared, completing her statement with the classic hashtag "red glasses."

Living it Up in Retirement

As she should be, Raphael is living the good life in retirement. If you follow the red-headed queen on social media, you may catch her doing everything from hitting the high seas to savoring a good meal. Raphael headed to New England this past summer, where she enjoyed everything from plates full of oysters to historic inns in New Hampshire. A popular gallery in Maine, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries, even hosted a summer auction with nearly 200 items from Raphael’s personal collection, WMTV reported.

Raphael Was One of the First Working Moms in Journalism

In the early days of working in journalism, being a working mother was a rarity. Raphael was officially breaking barriers!

“Well, there weren’t many of us,” Raphael told PEOPLE. “Most women in the 50s were stay-at-home moms. And so a working woman was either single or interesting. It was difficult. It was an all-male world.”
