Sharon Stone called out a group of "kids" she sat with at the Astra Film Awards on Jan. 9 for not recognizing her as she received an award at the ceremony

"I'd like to give you an opportunity to start your activism work now that your consciousness has kicked in," Stone said in her speech

Sharon Stone shared some choice words with a group of attendees she sat with at the Astra Film Awards.

The Casino actress, 67, was presented with the ninth annual Astra Film Awards' Timeless Award for her career's achievements on Friday, Jan. 9. When she took the stage during the awards ceremony, Stone called out whomever she was seated with and said that she was confronted earlier in the evening for sitting at the table.

"To the kids at my table who wondered ‘Who the f--- took that chair?' Now you know," she quipped, to laughter and applause from the audience.

"Yeah, someone came over and said, ‘Who are you and why are you sitting here?’ And she said ‘F--- you. But more importantly," Stone said to more laughter as she began her speech. "And more to the point, I'd like to say welcome to you. And I'd like to say this is an opportunity, because I started my activism work when my fame kicked in. And I'd like to give you an opportunity to start your activism work now that your consciousness has kicked in."

"Because fame without awareness, success without purpose, is pointless," Stone said elsewhere in her speech. She spoke to the tenacity with which she approached landing her breakout role in the 1992 movie Basic Instinct, stating that while she was not "the first person they offered" her famous role to, she was "the person who was prepared because I had that script for eight months, and I was the person who got a manager to call every single f---ing day, because I wanted that part."

"And when you want something as an artist, you should go and get it," she said.
