A frozen fried rice recall that was announced only two weeks ago has been expanded 10-fold to include a dozen other products from numerous retailers. The recalled products are all produced by Ajinomoto Foods North America, according to the recall notice published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Here’s everything you about this massive recall, including what to do if you have some of the products.

What’s Wrong With the Food?

The recalled products “may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically glass,” according to the recall notice. It was initially found to be a problem with frozen chicken fried rice sold at Trader Joe’s. After an investigation into the source of the glass, Ajinomoto Foods discovered it came from carrots used in the product. Those carrots were used as an ingredient in many other products, which is why the recall has now been expanded significantly.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of injury from the glass contamination so far.

Which Products Were Recalled?

Just under 37 million pounds of frozen and ready-to-eat products have been recalled in total. The products were produced between October 21, 2024, and February 26, 2026 — so it’s a very large window. They were sold nationwide at retailers including Costco, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger.

If you have any of those products in your freezer, you need to check the FSIS list of affected lot numbers, production dates, and expiration dates to see if the package you have is part of the recall.

All of that information can be found printed on each package. If you need help finding the information on your specific product, the FSIS has a number of photos to help you identify the right information.

If you purchased Ajinomoto Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen with Chicken at Costco anytime after December 2024, you should receive a letter or call from the company informing you of the recall. More information about the recalled product sold at Costco can be found in the recall letter the company published online.

What Should I Do if I Have Recalled Products?

If you have any of the recalled Ajinomoto Foods products, the FSIS advises you not to eat it and instead throw it away. You can also return the products to the place where you purchased them to receive a full refund.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the recall can contact the consumer affairs department of Ajinomoto Foods North America at (855) 742-5011 or by email at customercare@ajinomotofoods.com.
