Jessie J is reflecting on her past year with a smile, despite the fact that she hasn't "been well."

The singer, 37, was one of many artists to perform on BBC Two’s Jools Holland's Annual Hootenanny 2025 on New Year's Eve.

Ahead of her cover of Frank Sinatra’s "My Way," the performer spoke out about her year — during which she announced her breast cancer diagnosis.

After the June 2025 announcement, the singer underwent a mastectomy, but would go on to be hospitalized for a suspected blood clot in her lungs just six weeks after the procedure.

In August, she revealed that she needed a second surgery amid treatment, but the procedure would ultimately be postponed in October.

Speaking with Holland, Jessie J urged people “not to let their worst days define life," The Daily Mirror reported.

"I think this has been tough for a lot of people," she said, per the outlet. "It's been the year of the snake [in Chinese zodiac], but we've done a lot of shedding and letting go."

“And I think the world needed to kind of be exposed a little bit, hopefully for 2026 to be a year of coming together and more empathy, acting on our instincts, more in the right way," the singer continued.

The "Price Tag" hitmaker added, according to the outlet, that she hasn't "been well this year."

"I've got new boobs, big," she said. "We're looking at the positive silver lining. My nipples are looking in different directions, but we look at the positives. For context, I did have breast cancer. I know I've been talking about it a lot, but I think it's important that we do talk about it — good things, bad things. But I will say this, don't define your life on your worst days."

Looking on the positive side, Jessie J added that she is "so blessed that all my blessings outweigh anything that's been challenging this year."

"Honestly, I wouldn't have enjoyed this release ... I haven't released an album in eight years, and I don't think I would have enjoyed it like I have," she continued, referring to her sixth studio album, Don't Tease Me with a Good Time, which was released in November 2025.

"So there's always a silver lining, and I do believe we learn the most about ourselves in the hardest time," she said. "So when they come, grab them and learn.”
