The politician first became a father with the birth of his daughter, Montana, in 2009
His youngest child, son Dutch, was born in 2016
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, are parents to two daughters and two sons.
The politician wed the filmmaker on July 26, 2008, and welcomed their first child together, daughter Montana Tessa, the following year. In 2011, the couple’s second child, son Hunter, was born. Gavin and Jennifer’s family grew again in 2013 with the birth of their second daughter, Brooklynn Stacia. Their second son, Dutch William, arrived in 2016.
The couple have mostly kept their kids out of the spotlight over the years, but do occasionally bring them to special events and share photos of them on social media.
“Our kids are very sweet but definitely passionate and high energy,” Jennifer told North Bay Woman Magazine in 2014 of her family.
She added that they “love to explore nature and tell stories and dance” as a family, and also that she and Gavin hope “to encourage what they’re passionate about.”

In September 2009, Gavin and Jennifer welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Montana Tessa.
"Everyone's in very high spirits and doing well," a spokesman for Newsom said following Montana's birth, according to SFGate.
The new dad, who was the mayor of San Francisco at the time, returned to work a few days after her arrival and offered his first impressions on fatherhood.
"I have a profound new respect for parents that I only intellectualized before," he told the San Francisco Chronicle. "The sacrifices parents make, I'm only beginning to appreciate. ... And I don't know anything yet — this is only day three!"
Her first name is a nod to the state where her parents tied the knot a year prior, at Jennifer’s family ranch in Stevensville, Mont.
In 2014, Jennifer described her 4-year-old daughter as “a force of nature, full of zest and love. She loves to read,” telling North Bay Woman Magazine that their firstborn’s name was a perfect fit because “she’s strong and powerful, an adventurous soul.”
Gavin celebrated his oldest child’s 10th birthday in 2018 with a post on X, writing, “10 years old. Where has the time gone?! We love you so much Montana and are in awe of you every day.”
“Happy birthday!!! Now stop growing up so fast,” he added, along with a photo of him and the 10-year-old looking at each other.

Jennifer said in 2014 to North Bay Woman Magazine that her then- 2½-year-old “is very sweet and loving. He loves music and loves to boogie. He’s sweet but impish, like I was growing up.”
She also added that although Gavin had other ideas for the name of their first son, “Hunter was my favorite name for a boy,” and her choice won.
While celebrating his 10th birthday in June 2021, the mom of four reflected in an Instagram caption on the “challenging” past year as the world “changed in unprecedented ways,” adding that she and Gavin are “so very proud” of their son.
“Your perceptions of the world and your perception of your place in it changed as well, creating even more anxiety, tension and uncertainty,” she continued. “The 9 year change is hard on so many but despite it all, you have been so resilient and are growing into such an amazing young human being!”

On July 3, 2013, Gavin and Jennifer welcomed their third child together, daughter Brooklynn Stacia.
The politician, who was serving his first term as lieutenant governor of California at the time, announced her arrival on X. “Today we welcomed the latest addition to our family. A very healthy baby girl, Brooklynn Newsom. Thank you @JenSiebelNewsom! You r amazing!”
A few months before she turned 1, Jennifer told North Bay Woman Magazine that Brooklynn was their “Buddha baby, so sweet and mellow. She’s been a really easy third child.”
Her name has several origins. Jennifer’s younger sister, Brooke, was the third child of her parents, and Brooklynn is the Newsom’s third child. They combined that with Lynn, which is Jennifer’s middle name.
Brooklynn’s middle name is in honor of Stacia Ann Siebel, Jennifer’s older sister, who died in 1981 at age 8. “So we tied it all together,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer celebrated her daughter’s 5th birthday in 2018 on Facebook, calling Brooklynn the “sweetest little angel imaginable.”
“Mommy, daddy, and your siblings love you so much and thank you for always being so kind and loving. May we all shine bright like you,” she added.

Gavin and Jennifer’s fourth child and second son, Dutch William, was born on Feb. 26, 2016.
His first name is in honor of Dutch Flat, the small California town where Gavin spent childhood summers with his dad, Judge William Newsom, who died in 2018.
Two-year-old Dutch made headlines on Jan. 7, 2019, while his dad delivered his inaugural address after being sworn in as California’s 40th governor. With a pacifier in his mouth and a blanket in his hand, the toddler made his way onto the stage, where his dad picked him up and continued his speech.
Newsom told the crowd, “In our home, every child should be loved, fed, and safe. My wife Jennifer and I have four children, and there is nothing more important — I hope you can tell — to us than giving them a good and happy life.”
