Dolly Parton's sister didn't mean to scare fans when she commented on her health scare last year.
Many feared the worst when Freida Parton asked for prayers for the country music star in an Oct. 7 Facebook post. The singer posted a video on Instagram the next day, clarifying that her health challenges weren't as severe as many assumed, adding, "I ain't dead yet!"
In an interview with Tennessee news station WJHL-TV, Freida said Dolly was forgiving after the public misunderstanding.
"She probably thought, 'Well, she didn’t know about the internet then. She had no idea.' So I didn’t get in trouble with her or none of the family. But some people were very upset with me because I had said that," Freida told the outlet.

She clarified that praying for family members when they're not feeling well is just typical Parton behavior, regardless of severity.
"I just said what I said because Mama told us to pray. And, so I prayed, and I wanted people to pray for her because she wasn’t feeling good," Freida added. "It's like, hey, I didn’t mean it to happen. I just asked, you know, for people to pray for. Because that's the way I was raised, you know, pray."
Dolly Parton opened up about requiring 'a few procedures'
Freida's post prompted concerns after the Grammy-winning musician cancelled a slate of shows from her Las Vegas residency. "Do I look sick to you?" Parton said in the video, dismissing rumors. "I'm working hard here!"

On Sept. 28, the singer had to cancel the shows while completing "a few procedures" after "dealing with some health challenges."
"Don’t worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet," she wrote. "But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you."
