- David Harbour is breaking his silence on ex Lily Allen's *West End Girl*, which details the end of their four-year marriage.
- Allen implies that Harbour cheated on her and envied her success on the album that she says is a blend of "truth" and "fantasy."
- Pushing back on that characterization, Harbour said, "I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience."
David Harbour is ready to unpack his reaction to ex-wife Lily Allen's bombshell album about their relationship.
Last year, as Harbour was gearing up for the release of *Stranger Things*' final season, he was forced to grapple with the very public fallout of his split from Allen, who pulled no punches while addressing their separation on her October 2025 album, *West End Girl*.
"It was weird," Harbour told *Variety* of the album. "I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that."

Allen and Harbour met in 2019 and tied the knot a year later in a Las Vegas ceremony. News of their separation broke in February 2025, with a source telling PEOPLE that their marriage had been "crumbling."
On the album, which arrived eight months later, Allen does not explicitly name the *Stranger Things* star but seems to reference the end of their four-year marriage many times throughout the 14 songs that see her dub her former partner a "sex addict" who led a "double life" and "went astray" from their relationship. She implies that her ex-husband cheated on her and claims that her ex kept a separate apartment — the “Pussy Palace” — for sexual encounters that violated their open marriage. Allen also describes a partner who was envious of her success and who struggled with committing to their marriage.
The approach is one that Allen is known for, having spent her career drawing on personal anecdotes and relationships to fuel her songwriting. She famously penned the 2006 song "Aflie," criticizing her younger brother —* **Game of Thrones* star Alfie Allen — for his laziness and pot-smoking habit years before he would blow up as part of the HBO hit. In Harbour's case, he was already well attuned to the spotlight thanks to work on *Stranger Things *and in Marvel movies, and is determined to have firm boundaries between his personal and professional lives.

“I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life," he told the outlet of Allen's album. "In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life — I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that."
When asked if he wanted to directly address any of the claims made on *West End Girl,* Harbour pushed back without getting into specifics.

Allen said the album was inspired by what went on in her relationship but also insisted that her lyrics weren't wholly autobiographical, telling *Interview* on the heels of its release, "Some of it is based on truth and some of it is fantasy."
She added, "It's not a cruel album. I don't feel like I'm being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time."
