In the end, the MMA fighter was on the receiving end of a knockout *Big Brother* blow.

Kamu Kirk thought he had changed the game when he aligned with Head of Household Yash Patel to put two different icons (Angela Murray and Dee Valladares) on the block. But what he didn’t count on was Rick Devens using a fan-awarded Diamond Power of Veto to flip the script.

Devens took Dee off the block and put Kamu up instead. Kamu voiced to others that he thought he had the votes to stay, but after losing to Angela at the BB Block Buster, he was voted out of the *Big Brother *house by a vote of 8-1 instead of Haley Thogmartin.

What went wrong for Kamu? Was he surprised by the overwhelming vote against him? And does he think it was fair that certain players are given special powers by fans and others aren’t? We also asked the sixth one out about his anti-drag comments in the house, and you can now watch or read our entire interview below.

**: We saw you say in the days leading up to eviction night that you thought you had the votes to stay. You even said part of you wanted to lose the Block Buster so you could prove to the icons you had the votes, so what happened?**

**KAMU KIRK**: I definitely did not want to lose the Block Buster, but for me, it was one of those things where I was looking at it as a possible win-win where it’s like, of course, I wanted to win the Block Buster to ensure my safety, but if I did lose the Block Buster, I was hoping that I had the votes to stay, which would’ve shown the icons that the house was with me and that we wanted to turn the game on its head.

But I think the icons are playing a fantastic game. Two out of three of them got power, and right now they have a lot of the house obviously behind them. So I think that the longer the rookies keep the icons in, the more problematic it’s gonna be for them in the long run.

**I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this before when you have a mix of returning and new players. When you sat down next to Haley after the Block Buster, what did you think the vote was going to be?**

I was hopeful. I was hoping that the votes obviously would be in my favor, but I also was very aware that people saw that as a chance to take their shot at me. So I knew it was gonna be close. I did think that I was gonna be safe. I thought that especially with some people like Mallory and Melody, I wasn’t really expecting them to vote to keep Haley. But like I said, man, they had their shot.

I knew that people saw me as a physical threat, and I had really good relationships with people in the house as well. So I knew that there was a good chance that people had the shot they were gonna take. And unfortunately, that’s what happened.

**Yeah, the night before Rick used his Diamond Power of Veto, he strategically formed a new alliance called the Mosh Pit that brought in Mallory and Melody. So he was just kinda trying to make sure that he had the troops ready to make that big move. So that’s how they got folded into that.**

I appreciate that. Obviously, I haven’t really watched too much at all, but I did see a little clip last night on *BB Unlocked* where they showed the Mosh Pit being formed. I didn’t realize that that was the night before. But that was what they needed to do to make sure that they had the numbers to pull this off.

I’m telling you, the icons are playing a really, really good game. And the longer the rookies keep them in the house, the more problematic they’re gonna be. And I think that the icons are always gonna protect each other over the rookies. Unfortunately, I don’t think the rookies see it that way. So it’s tough to watch a little bit, but they may have to learn the hard way, unfortunately.

**Is it fair that the most popular players — and for the first three weeks they were icons — get opportunities for special powers like the Diamond Power of Veto that can completely change the game?**

Of course, being on the receiving end, I have mixed feelings, right? Because all three of the icons, they all had the opportunity to have powers, right? Angela, she obviously lost, and she got that punishment for the first week, but Dee and Devens, they got those powers. And those powers are huge advantages in the game.

But then, of course, there’s the argument of when they came in the house, they also already had a huge target on their backs. So you could say that they started the game with an unfair [disadvantage]. But also the counter to *that* is because people knew them and people in the house were fans of theirs already, everybody wanted to work with them.

So there’s always a little bit of pros and cons to everything, but it does suck to be on the receiving end of the power. But, dude, that’s *Big Brother*, and that’s why I’m a fan of the show. It sucks to be on the receiving end, but you gotta respect the play by Devens.

**Walk me through a little *Big Brother* alternate reality. Let’s say Rick doesn’t use the Diamond Power of Veto, Angela wins the Block Buster, and it’s Dee sitting next to Haley. What happens with that vote and what’s the course of the game after that?**

I think if it’s Dee sitting next to Haley, Haley was not a fan favorite in the house. I liked Haley. She and I had a good relationship. And Haley was cool with everybody, but she did rub people the wrong way a little bit. And so I could see a world where Haley ends up going home, but I definitely would’ve been campaigning to send Dee out.

And I was actually running through some of the numbers last night while I was in bed. Had Devens not used that power and Angela won the Block Buster, I actually still think that we could have had the numbers to send Dee home. And then at that point, we’re looking at an entirely different game.

Ultimately, I’m proud of the game that I played. And I felt like I played a pretty good game controlling everything that I could control. And a power that was unforeseen being used was something that I could never predict or plan for. Like I said, it was unforeseen. So with the information that I had, I’m happy with the game that I played, and I don’t really have too many regrets. Which I feel at peace about.

**Speaking of information, do you know who won last night’s Head of Household?**

I don’t, but I was thinking about it all night long. Who won?

**Wanna take a guess?**

**It was Dee.**

It was Dee? Ah, man. So my boy Yash is in some trouble. I’m hoping that he can win. If they put him up first, I’m hoping that he wins Veto. If not, I’m hoping that he wins the Block Buster. But Yash, Taylor, Lala, Haley are in big trouble this week, unfortunately. So we’ll see. We’ll see who’s following me next week.

I think that last night was a really pivotal vote in the game. I really do. If I would’ve stayed, I think that I could have helped take out the icons and we’d be looking at a completely new game. And my pitch to the house too was, “Guys, all three of them will be able to play in this HOH. Keep me here!” And then of course, all three of them played, and Dee won her second HOH and becomes the first repeat HOH. So my heart breaks for those guys. But it is what it is, I guess.

**Why did you move away from Chuk and Haley after the Lyric vote, because the three of you were all on the same page for that vote, so why did it sort of disintegrate after that even though nobody from that trio flipped?**

Because I didn’t know that. You know what I mean? There were three votes to evict Melody. I trusted Yash. So I didn’t know who the others were. I knew that obviously Chuk and Haley were incredibly close. Everybody always lumped the three of us together, but I kind of looked at them as more of a duo plus me rather than the three of us being a solid trio.

So I didn’t know if Chuk, Angela, or Dee were lying. Angela and Dee were very close with Haley, so I thought the three of them would’ve been in on the vote. I didn’t realize that Haley was as blindsided as I was. And then I also knew that Chuk and Haley were very close. And so there was a part of me that thought, “Well, maybe Chuk was in on it somehow as well.” So it was just a lack of information.

And then of course, I learned throughout the week that Chuk *did* vote with me and that Haley was also blindsided. But in the moment, I didn’t know. And I had to make a move, dude. Lala told me the next day, right after the live vote, the very next day, she told me I was going up on the block in the morning. So I had to scramble, and I had to do what I had to do to make sure that I was safe.

And so not knowing that they were on my side and that we all voted together, I had to do what I had to do to preserve my life in the house.

**There’s one thing I want to give you the opportunity to address. There was a moment a few weeks back where you were sitting with Devens and you saw Drew wearing Mallory’s pajamas and you said, “Miss me with the drag stuff, miss me with the women’s clothes. I’m still an MMA guy, and I have an image to uphold.” What did you mean by that, Kamu, because it came off to many as homophobic and as if that sort of behavior was somehow unacceptable? **

Oh, no, no, man. With the whole comment, I love Jason. On a personal level, I love Jason. Our games didn’t align. So, you know, there was some beef there game-wise. But even when he was evicted that night, I felt bad for him. I didn’t wanna see him crying. I tried to console him a little bit, and he didn’t have any of it, which I understand, emotions were running high. But on a personal level, I love Jason.

And Jason and all those guys, they can dress however they wanna dress. And that’s cool with me. But I also wanna be able to dress the way that I wanna be able to dress and feel comfortable dressing without people putting pressure on me to dress a certain way either. So I love Jason on a personal level, man. And he can do whatever he wants to do. And I just ask for that same respect, that’s all.

**Would you go see Jason perform as his drag alter ego Salina?**

I’m not sure, but I do hope to see him on finale night. I would love to give him a hug, and I wanna make sure that he knows that: Hey, dude, on a human level, I love you, dude. I hope that we can be friends.

**Finally, if you could use the Dining Table Time Machine to go back in time and change one thing about your game, what would it be?**

Man, that’s a really good question. There are two things. I would’ve not worked so closely with Devens after the vote flip, because once the vote flipped with Lyric, I had my suspicions of Devens, but I still kind of gave him the benefit of the doubt a little bit, and I wish I didn’t do that.

I also wish that I wouldn’t have worked as closely with Drew, because I felt suspicious about Drew from the time I was HOH week three. But I kind of gave him the benefit of the doubt as well and just kind of attributed a lot of his shiftiness and game play in the house to him just kind of being young. And so I think that I would’ve not worked so closely with those two.
